We have abandoned our WWII veterans. Happily most are not alive to see the betrayal of their sacrifice as we betray Europe and the 80 years of peace they secured with their fighting and dying.
We have abandoned the First Amendment. We now lock up people and deport them because of views the government does not agree with. Thank god we got rid of cancel culture though.
We have abandoned the Fifth Amendment. We no longer believe people have the right to due process. We declare by fiat that a person is here illegally, present no evidence, and then sentence them to a foreign prison for life.
We have abandoned the rule of law. We now obstruct legal proceedings, hide information, and lie to judges. We ignore judicial rulings. We threaten and disrespect judges.
We have abandoned economic probity. We have launched a form of economic vandalism only our enemies could have imagined previously.
We have abandoned decency. Cruelty is now the point as we fetishize brutality with slick videos of people in shackles. We ask our most vulnerable and elderly to drive long distances to get the government benefits they worked so hard for. Unidentified men with covered faces roam the streets of our city sweeping up individuals with no due process.
We have abandoned the common man. We have decided that the wealthy are the most important members of our society and have decided to take from hard working Americans so that those with the most can pay even lower taxes.
We have abandoned care. The care for those less fortunate. The care of what we have built as a nation. The care of principles.
We have abandoned any sense of responsibility. A 1.4% mandate for a president not even elected with a majority we allow to run unsupervised through the careful constructions of our government. Our Congress watches in wonder and stupefaction as their hero shapes these miracles of lawlessness and cruelty in our name.
I hope that you sent this to each of them.
I’ve sent letters and called my representatives… it’s laughable for me to call them that since I didn’t vote for any of them…
I do like the eloquence of yours.
